Not a vegetable to be seen (but they are in there). Very kid friendly and it makes two meals - half for dinner and half for the freezer for a busy night when you can’t cook. - Miriam Maynard

Ingredients

  • 2 onions peeled
  • 1 clove garlic peeled
  • 1 kg mince
  • 1 jar Leggos Bolognese Pasta Sauce
  • 1 cup beef stock (liquid)
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1 sachet Leggos pizza sauce
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbs gravy powder *optional

Method

  • Step 1
In a food processor, puree the onion, garlic and pasta sauce till smooth.
  • Step 2
Pour the pureed liquid into a large pot. Add the beef stock, wine, sugar, oregano and pizza sauce.
  • Step 3
Use a potato masher to "mash" the mince into the liquid mixture till it is combined and smooth.
  • Step 4
Bring to the boil, then cover with a lid. Simmer on a low heat for ½ an hour (or as long as an hour if you like). Stir often so it doesn’t burn. Keep covered with a lid so it doesn’t splatter. (*Optional: If you prefer the bolognese thicker, mix gravox powder with a little water until it becomes a smooth paste and slowly stir it into the sauce in the last few minutes before serving.)
  • Step 5
Serve with pasta, parmesan and garlic bread.
