Fairy bread just got the one-handed party food treatment you’ll wish you’d thought of sooner.

I’ve always been obsessed with taking nostalgic classics and giving them a fun, modern twist. And these little fairy bread toasts might be my favourite five-minute party trick yet.

The idea came from a “what if?” moment while testing mini dessert ideas: what if we turned the fairy bread we all grew up with into something cuter, crunchier and way more shareable? Suddenly, I was standing in the test kitchen melting chocolate and pressing mini toasts into sprinkles like a child on a sugar high… and it worked!

How to make mini white chocolate fairy bread toasts

During testing, the biggest “a-ha” moment was realising that the oven-softened choc melts give you the perfect glue. Just soft enough to coat the toast and grab onto the 100s & 1000s underneath, without any messy dipping or spreading. It’s weirdly therapeutic to press each toast down and watch the sprinkles create that perfect base.

With only three ingredients and five minutes to make, this recipe is super quick and easy. This also means it’s perfect for the kiddies to lend a hand making them too. School holiday activity sorted! Kids love them, and adults get weirdly excited about them (just ask the Australia’s Best Recipes team), and they disappear faster than you can make them.

Fairy bread is basically every Aussie kid’s childhood party memory in one bite, so this recipe taps straight into that warm, nostalgic energy. It reminds me of school birthdays, paper plates, party pies and the smell of butter and sprinkles. This mini version feels like a grown-up wink at that memory. The same vibes but cuter and made for entertaining.

What goes into these mini white chocolate fairy bread toasts

We start with the essential: 100s & 1000s sprinkles, the classic Aussie sprinkle with bright colour and crunch that gives that signature fairy bread look. You can swap them out for any other sprinkle you like. Then we bring in Nestle White Choc Melts: the “butter” for our fairy bread. They create the perfect glue for the sprinkles to stick to the mini toasts and set firm without tempering or refrigeration. Finally, Always Fresh Classic Mini Toasts: crunchy, sturdy and the perfect size for tiny fairy bread bites.

Ingredients

  • 350g jar 100s & 1000s sprinkles
  • 225g pkt Nestlé White Choc Melts
  • 90g pkt Always Fresh Classic Mini Toasts

Method

  • Step 1
Preheat oven to 140°C/120°C fan forced. Line a small slice pan with baking paper. Pour sprinkles into the prepared pan and spread evenly to cover the base.
  • Step 2
Arrange choc melts, spaced evenly apart, on top of the sprinkles. Bake for 2-3 minutes or until glossy and softened. Remove pan from the oven. Working quickly, place each mini toast onto each softened chocolate melt and gently press down until the chocolate spreads into the sprinkles underneath and coats the mini toast. Set toasts aside, coated-side down, to set. Repeat with remaining melts and mini toasts. Serve.
Recipe Notes

How can I perfect the chocolate on these mini fairy bread bites?

Don’t leave the chocolate melts in the oven for too long – once glossy, they’re ready. Overheating will make the melts burn, and the chocolate won’t stick to the toast properly. Work quickly once out of the oven so the chocolate adheres to the toast before it firms up.

Press just enough to spread the chocolate into the sprinkles underneath and coat the surface of the toast.
