This recipe combines minced beef and Swiss cheese, and it's really delicious! I have made it many times and most who try it come back for seconds! - AnnieT

Ingredients

  • 250 g beef mince
  • 1 onion diced medium
  • 1 tbs oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese grated
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese grated
  • 1 sheet puff pastry uncooked

Method

  • Step 1
    Heat the oil in a frypan. Cook the minced beef and onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft, remove from the heat.

    Stir in the salt, oregano, garlic powder and pepper.
  • Step 3
    In a bowl, beat the eggs, milk and mayonnaise together, then stir into the meat mixture. Fold in the cheeses.
  • Step 4
    Line a lightly greased 23cm pie plate with the sheet of puff pastry. Pour in the mince mixture.
  • Step 5
    Bake uncovered at 190C for 40-45 minutes, or until it is golden and puffed in the centre.
  • Step 6
    Rest for 5 minutes before cutting.
Recipe Notes

I always use good quality whole egg mayonnaise and Swiss cheese for this recipe.

I have tried substituting cheeses, but the taste is never the same.

Fresh herbs can be used.
