This is tried and true, never fails and always satisfies. A hit in our family.
Ingredients
- 5 potatoes medium peeled
- 1 tbs oil
- 500 g beef mince
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 1 tbs tomato sauce
- 1 tbs Worcestershire sauce
- 1 pinch salt and pepper
- 60 g margarine
- 1/4 cup plain flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup cheese grated
- 250 g canned mushroom
- 30 g margarine *extra
Method

Step 1Preheat oven to 190C. Peel potatoes, cut into thin slices and place in a bowl with water.

Step 2Heat oil in frying pan, add mince, onion, sauces, salt and pepper. Brown mince and set aside.

Step 3Melt margarine in a saucepan and add flour. Blend until smooth.

Step 4Gradually add milk and stir continuously until a thick sauce is made. Reduce heat and stir in cheese. Remove from heat.

Step 5Line a casserole dish with half the potato slices, pour in the mince mixture and top with mushrooms.

Step 6Pour cheese sauce over mixture and top with remaining potatoes.

Step 7Dot casserole with extra margarine and place in oven for 30-40 minutes until browned and potatoes are tender.

Recipe Notes
A larger can of mushrooms can be added. I used canned mushrooms in butter sauce.
