A great cheesy pasta with the added flavour of kabana.
Ingredients
- 1 tbs oil diced
- 1 onion diced
- 500 g macaroni
- 200 g smoked bacon diced
- 1 stick kabana sausage
- 2 tbs butter
- 2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup plain flour
- 500 g cheese grated
Method

Step 1Fry onion in a little oil with the bacon until the onion has softened.

Step 2Cook the macaroni as per packet instructions, drain and set aside.

Step 3Melt the butter in a medium saucepan.

Step 4Remove from heat and add enough flour to form a thick paste.

Step 5Gradually add the milk, stirring well and making sure there are no lumps.

Step 6Return saucepan to stove and slowly heat, stirring constantly until sauce thickens. Add 2/3 of the cheese and stir until melted through.

Step 7Place onion, bacon, kabana and cheese sauce in with the macaroni, stir until well combined.

Step 8Place in a large casserole dish or baking tin and sprinkle with remaining cheese.

Step 9Bake at 200C for approximately 30-40 minutes or until the cheese browns.

Recipe Notes
Kabana can also be replaced with approximately 400 g browned chicken fillets.
