Nice and sweet.
Ingredients
- 80 g unsalted butter
- 1/3 cup caster sugar
- 2 tbs milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
- 1 cup self-raising flour
- 1/3 cup custard powder
- 2 tbs strawberry jam
Method

Step 1Preheat oven to 180C and line two trays with baking paper.

Step 2Using electric beater, beat the butter and sugar in a small mixing bowl until light and creamy.

Step 3Add the milk and essence, and beat until well mixed.

Step 4Sift the flour and custard powder into the butter mixture and mix to form a soft dough.

Step 5Roll 2 teaspoonfuls of mixture at a time into balls and place onto prepared trays.

Step 6Press a hollow in each ball using the end of a wooden spoon and fill with ¼ teaspoon of jam.

Step 7Bake for 15 minutes then transfer onto a wire rack to cool.

Recipe Notes
I usually have to double this recipe as it doesn't last in our household. Regular sugar can be used in place of caster sugar. With the caster sugar you can alternately use normal sugar if you haven't any caster. Use strawberry or raspberry jam.
