A delicious fudge cake with a hint of orange.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup cold water
- 2 oranges juiced zested
- 2 drops natural orange essence
- 250 g butter
- 2 cups caster sugar
- 200 g 70% cocoa dark chocolate
- 1 1/2 cups plain flour
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 2 eggs lightly beaten
Jaffa Icing
- 1 cup 70% cocoa dark chocolate roughly chopped
- 1 cup cream
- 3 drops natural orange essence
- 1 orange zested
Method

Step 1Combine water, zest, juice, essence, butter, sugar and chocolate in a saucepan.

Step 2Heat gently until chocolate has melted and sugar has dissolved.

Step 3Remove pan from heat and allow to cool slightly.

Step 4Whisk in sifted flour and cocoa. Stir in beaten eggs.

Step 5Pour batter into a lined 22 cm spring form pan.

Step 6Bake at 175C for 1¼ hours or until cooked.

Step 7Allow to cool before icing.

Step 8Jaffa Icing: Melt together chocolate, cream, essence and orange zest in a saucepan over simmering water, or in a microwave, until smooth.

Step 9Allow to cool and thicken in refrigerator. Spread thickened icing over cold cake.
