These sweet apple dumplings are finished with a golden syrup sauce.
Ingredients
- 2 cup self-raising flour
- 120g butter
- 1 egg lightly beaten
- 2 granny smith apple cored cored large peeled quartered
- 1 tbs milk
Syrup
- 3 tbs golden syrup
- 1 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 100g butter
Method

Step 1Rub butter into flour. Add egg and enough milk to form a dough.

Step 2Divide dough into eight pieces. Roll out and fold around each of the apple pieces.

Step 3Place dumplings into a greased baking dish.

Step 4Place all syrup ingredients into a saucepan and bring to the boil.

Step 5Pour syrup mix carefully over dumplings.

Step 6Bake at 180C for 30 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 7Serve with vanilla ice-cream.

Just like mum used to make. Took me a long time to find the recipe. Now I make this for my girls and husband and they love it. If you have leftovers you can place it into the fridge and reheat in the oven. Tastes just as good as the night before!
