Ingredients

  • 2 cup self-raising flour
  • 120g butter
  • 1 egg lightly beaten
  • 2 granny smith apple cored cored large peeled quartered
  • 1 tbs milk

Syrup

  • 3 tbs golden syrup
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 100g butter

Method

  • Step 1
    Rub butter into flour. Add egg and enough milk to form a dough.

  • Step 2
    Divide dough into eight pieces. Roll out and fold around each of the apple pieces.
  • Step 3
    Place dumplings into a greased baking dish.
  • Step 4
    Place all syrup ingredients into a saucepan and bring to the boil.
  • Step 5
    Pour syrup mix carefully over dumplings.
  • Step 6
    Bake at 180C for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Step 7
    Serve with vanilla ice-cream.

Recipe Notes

Just like mum used to make. Took me a long time to find the recipe. Now I make this for my girls and husband and they love it. If you have leftovers you can place it into the fridge and reheat in the oven. Tastes just as good as the night before!
