Best ever gingerbread!
Ingredients
- 125 g butter
- 1/4 cup caster sugar
- 1/3 cup golden syrup
- 1 egg
- 2 1/2 cup plain flour
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
Method

Step 1Beat butter, sugar and golden syrup until light and creamy. Add egg, beat well.

Step 2Combine flour, spices, bicarbonate of soda and salt into creamed mixture and mix until just combined.

Step 3Turn out onto floured surface, knead for 1 minute, adding extra flour if dough is sticky.

Step 4Wrap in cling wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes or until firm. Preheat oven to 150C.

Step 5Roll out dough on floured surface to 4 mm thick. Using cutters, cut shapes from dough.

Step 6Place on lined tray, allowing room for biscuits to spread.

Step 7Bake for 5-10 minutes then allow to cool on cooling rack.
Recipe Notes
Makes approximately 100 biscuits using a 5 cm "tall man" cutter. Will keep for several weeks in airtight container.
