Easy to bake Easter bread, which is very popular in Germany and Austria. Great for your Easter breakfast with jam of your choice on top.
Ingredients
- 500 g plain flour
- 2 1/2 tbs dry yeast
- 60 g raw caster sugar
- 70 g dairy-free sunflower margarine
- 5 tbs sunflower oil
- 300 ml almond milk lukewarm
- 1 tbs lemon zest
- 3/4 cup raisins
- 1/2 tsp Himalayan pink salt
Method

Step 1Add the flour into a bowl and make a well in the centre. Add the yeast into the well and a splash of lukewarm almond milk.

Step 2Heat the almond milk and melt the margarine in it. Set aside to cool down a little bit. Add all the ingredients to the flour and start to combine, knead until you get a smooth dough.

Step 3When you have nice smooth dough, return to the bowl, cover with a towel and give the dough a rest for 1 hour.

Step 4Slightly knead the dough again. Cut into 3 equal pieces and start to roll 3 snakes to make a braid.

Step 5Spread the top with sunflower oil and almond milk. Give it another rest of 10 more min. Put into the preheated oven 170C° and bake for 25 - 30 min.
