Feed a large family with this fantastic beef lasagne.
Ingredients
- 1 kg beef mince
- 1 brown onion finely chopped
- 2 garlic clove grated
- 400 g canned crushed tomatoes
- 400 g can condensed tomato soup
- 1 tbs tomato paste
- 1 cup chicken stock (liquid)
- 2 tsp Vegemite
- 2 tsp sugar *to taste
- 300 g instant lasagne sheets
- 500 g bechamel sauce
- 2 cup tasty cheese grated
Method

Step 1In a large saucepan on medium heat, sauté onion and garlic until transparent. Add beef mince and cook until brown.

Step 2Add stock, crushed tomatoes, tomato soup, tomato paste, Vegemite and sugar. Bring to the boil and simmer uncovered for 1½ to 2 hours or until liquid has reduced by half.

Step 3Allow the sauce to rest for 15 minutes.

Step 4Meanwhile, line a rectangular baking dish with baking paper and preheat oven to 180C.

Step 5Layer lasagne starting with a small amount of sauce at the bottom followed by an even layer of lasagne sheets, making sure to put layers all the way to the edge.

Step 6Add bechamel sauce, a sprinkle of cheese then lasagna sheets again. Repeat layers until all the sauce has been used up.

Step 7Top with a generous amount of bechamel sauce and cover with tasty cheese.

Step 8Bake for 45 minutes.
Recipe Notes
Allow lasagna to rest for 15 minutes or more before cutting it into slices.
