This recipe can be made in one bowl. No sifting flour needed and can be adapted to any fruit in season. And it's yum! Have had people eat whole slice in one go!
Ingredients
- 2 tbs butter
- 2 tbs sugar
- 2 tbs milk
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cups self-raising flour
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground cloves
- 800 g canned apple
- 1 tsp milk *to taste
- 1 tsp sugar
Method

Step 1Preheat fan-forced oven to 180C degrees.

Step 2In a medium sized microwave-safe bowl, melt butter with sugar for 30 seconds. Add milk and egg to melted butter. Add flour and combine until just mixed into a dough.

Step 3Halve dough and with a rolling pin roll out between two sheets of baking or grease-proof paper. Place bottom sheet of baking paper and pastry into a slice pan. Spoon over apple and sprinkle with cinnamon and ground clove.

Step 4Roll out other half of pastry between two sheets of baking paper. Place rolled out pastry on top of apple pieces and press down edges. Brush with extra milk and sprinkle with sugar.

Step 5Bake in oven for 25 minutes, or until pastry is lightly golden and cooked through.
