A very easy cake to make. - bjthedj

Ingredients

1 cup dates chopped
1 cup boiling water
1/4 tsp bicarbonate of soda
125 g butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 cup self-raising flour

Method

Step 1

Place dates in a bowl and pour over boiling water. Add bicarbonate of soda and allow to cool.
Step 2

Beat butter and sugar. Add egg and fold in date mixture.
Step 3

Add flour and combine well.
Step 4

Bake at 180C for approximately 20 minutes.
