Using pork mince, these easy budget-friendly meatballs make the perfect weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
- 500g pork mince
- 3 sticks celery, cut into small pieces, leaves set aside
- 1/2 cup fine breadcrumbs
- 1/2 onion, finely chopped
- 1 tbs tomato sauce
- 1/2 tbs soy sauce
- Rice bran oil for frying
Gravy
- 1 1/2 tbs plain flour
- 1 tbs soy sauce
- 1 vegetable stock cube
- 1 1/2 cups water
Method

Step 1Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Mix well to combine. Allow to sit for around 30 minutes.

Step 2Using your hands, shape the mixture into small golf ball-sized balls.

Step 3Heat a large pan with oil and add the meatballs. Cook, turning occasionally, until cooked through. Remove with thongs and place on a plate lined with paper towels.

Step 4To make the gravy, using the same pan, turn the heat down and move the pan off the heat. Add plain flour and stir well with the oils in the pan. Add soy sauce and a stock cube. Gradually add water, a few tbs at a time, and stir to prevent lumps.

Step 5Return the pan to the stove and stir continully until the mixture thickens.

Step 6Serve the meatballs with gravy.
