Ingredients
- 150g butter, chopped, softened
- 395g can sweetened condensed milk
- 3 eggs
- 185g (1¼ cups) self-raising flour
- 30g (¼ cup) Dutch process cocoa powder
- ½ tsp baking powder
- 60ml (¼ cup) full-cream milk
- Mixed berries, to serve
Chocolate icing
- 210g (1 ⅓ cups) pure icing sugar
- 1 tbsp Dutch process cocoa powder
- 10g butter, softened
- 1 tbsp milk
Method
-
Step 1Preheat oven to 180C/160C fan forced. Grease and line a 20cm cake pan with baking paper.
-
Step 2Use an electric mixer to beat butter until light and fluffy. With motor operating, gradually add the condensed milk and beat until well combined. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
-
Step 3Sift flour, cocoa powder and baking powder over butter mixture. Add full-cream milk and fold until just combined.
-
Step 4Pour into prepared pan and bake for 40-45 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Stand in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
-
Step 5To make the chocolate icing, sift the icing sugar and cocoa powder into a medium bowl. Add butter and milk, and stir until smooth, adding a little more milk if needed.
-
Step 6Spread the icing over top of cake. Set aside for 30 minutes or until icing sets. Serve with berries.
