It is a quick easy recipe for a cool winter's night and can be made with most of ingredients you have on hand. As my husband has beef allergies I use pork or lamb mince, but it's better with the beef mince! - moodymoo

Ingredients

  • 500g beef mince
  • 45g French onion soup mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 6 slices bread crusts removed
  • 1 cup cheese grated

Method

  • Step 1
    Brown onion in a casserole dish on the stove, then add mince and cook until browned.

  • Step 2
    Mix the soup with the water and stir through the mince mixture.
  • Step 3
    Layer the bread on top of the mince and cover with cheese.
  • Step 4
    Bake in the oven at 180C for 15-20 minutes or until cheese has melted.

Equipment

  • 1 casserole dish
Recipe Notes

Serve with mashed potato and greens, or vegetables of your choice. Add more or less cheese according to your taste.
