It is a quick easy recipe for a cool winter's night and can be made with most of ingredients you have on hand. As my husband has beef allergies I use pork or lamb mince, but it's better with the beef mince!
Ingredients
- 500g beef mince
- 45g French onion soup mix
- 1 cup water
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 6 slices bread crusts removed
- 1 cup cheese grated
Method
-
Step 1Brown onion in a casserole dish on the stove, then add mince and cook until browned.
-
Step 2Mix the soup with the water and stir through the mince mixture.
-
Step 3Layer the bread on top of the mince and cover with cheese.
-
Step 4Bake in the oven at 180C for 15-20 minutes or until cheese has melted.
Equipment
- 1 casserole dish
Recipe Notes
Serve with mashed potato and greens, or vegetables of your choice. Add more or less cheese according to your taste.
