These little cheeseburger pastry balls are hiding a flavoursome mince centre and oozy melted burger cheese. Perfect for parties!
Ingredients
- 500g beef mince
- 1/4 cup tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 4 slices orange burger cheese
- 2 sheets puff pastry, defrosted
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
Method
-
Step 1Preheat oven to 180C fan-forced. Line an oven-proof tray with baking paper.
-
Step 2In a bowl, combine mince with sauces and plenty of salt and pepper.
-
Step 3Remove plastic wrap from cheese slices and stack one on top of the other. Cut into four strips, then across into four squares so you have 16 little square stacks. Cut each sheet of pastry into 9 squares - you will have some left over.
-
Step 4Divide mince mixture into 16 even pieces. Take one piece of beef and flatten into a disc in your palm. Place one cheese stack in the centre and wrap with the beef to enclose. Shape into a ball. Take one square of pastry and place the beef ball in the centre. Pull the corners over and join them together underneath. Press down the rest of the pastry so you have a completely sealed ball. Place seal side down on prepared baking tray. Continue with remaining ingredients until you have 16 balls.
-
Step 5Brush the balls with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
-
Step 6Bake for 18-20 minutes until puffed and golden.
Recipe Notes
Be sure to seal the pastry completely to avoid escaping cheese.
Serve with tomato sauce for dipping.
To divide the mince, roll into a sausage shape and divide in half, then half, then half again until you have 16 pieces.
