Ingredients

  • 375 g beef mince
  • 1 garlic clove crushed
  • 425 g canned crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tbs tomato paste
  • 200 g pasta small
  • 2 carrot thinly sliced
  • 1 zucchini thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 chicken stock cube crumbled
  • 1/2 bunch silverbeet chopped washed
  • 30 g butter
  • 2 1/2 tbs plain flour
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup tasty cheese grated

Method

  • Step 1
    Pre heat oven to 180C.
  • Step 2
    Brown mince and garlic in a frypan.
  • Step 3
    Stir in tomatoes and paste, bring to the boil. Reduce heat, simmer, uncovered, for about 5 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Add pasta to a large pan of boiling water, boil, uncovered until just tender, drain.
  • Step 5
    Place pasta over base of ovenproof dish, top with meat mixture.
  • Step 6
    Place carrot, zucchini, water and stock cube in a large saucepan, bring to the boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Step 7
    Add silverbeet and stir over heat until liquid has evaporated.
  • Step 8
    Spoon vegetables over meat layer.
  • Step 9
    Melt butter in saucepan, add flour, stir over heat for 1 minute.
  • Step 10
    Remove from heat, gradually stir in milk. Return to heat, stir constantly until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Step 11
    Pour over vegetables, sprinkle with cheese.
  • Step 12
    Bake for approximately 30 minutes or until lightly browned.
