Ingredients

  • 750 g beef steak
  • 3 onion sliced
  • 1 tbs sweet Hungarian paprika
  • 1 tsp beef stock (powder)
  • 425 g tomato soup
  • 800 g sauerkraut
  • 300 ml cream
  • 1 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbs cornflour

Method

  • Step 1
    Brown beef and onions and place in a casserole dish that can be used on a hot plate.
  • Step 2
    Add water, paprika and beef stock.
  • Step 3
    Cook in moderate oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until beef is tender and liquid has reduced.
  • Step 4
    Combine sauerkraut and tomato soup with meat mixture.
  • Step 5
    Mix cornflour with cream and stir through meat.
  • Step 6
    Bring to boil and cook until thickened.

Equipment

  • 1 casserole dish
Recipe Notes

Serve with mashed potato. I guess the whole thing can be done on top of stove, just cook until the meat is tender.
