A lovely tangy beef dish using canned or fresh sauerkraut.
Ingredients
- 750 g beef steak
- 3 onion sliced
- 1 tbs sweet Hungarian paprika
- 1 tsp beef stock (powder)
- 425 g tomato soup
- 800 g sauerkraut
- 300 ml cream
- 1 1/4 cup water
- 1 tbs cornflour
Method

Step 1Brown beef and onions and place in a casserole dish that can be used on a hot plate.

Step 2Add water, paprika and beef stock.

Step 3Cook in moderate oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until beef is tender and liquid has reduced.

Step 4Combine sauerkraut and tomato soup with meat mixture.

Step 5Mix cornflour with cream and stir through meat.

Step 6Bring to boil and cook until thickened.

Recipe Notes
Serve with mashed potato. I guess the whole thing can be done on top of stove, just cook until the meat is tender.
