Ingredients

  • 60g butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup self-raising flour
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 apple cored peeled thinly sliced *to decorate
  • 1 tsp sugar *to decorate
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg *to decorate

Method

  • Step 1
    Cream butter and sugar and then add egg, beating well.
  • Step 2
    Add flour and salt alternating with milk and mix until light and fluffy.

  • Step 3
    Pour mixture into a greased and lined cake tin.
  • Step 4
    Place thickly sliced apple decoratively on top of cake and sprinkle with the extra sugar and some nutmeg.
  • Step 5
    Bake at 180C for 30-45 minutes.
  • Step 6
    Remove from tin when cooked and cool on tray.
