Ingredients

Large doughnut cake base

  • 1 white bundt cake
  • 1 cup butter room temperature
  • 2 cups icing sugar
  • 2 tbs milk
  • 1/2 tsp pink food colouring

Decorations

  • 4 chocolate iced doughnuts
  • 1/4 cup Uncle Tobys Cheerios
  • 1/2 cup icing sugar
  • 2 tsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp milk
  • 1 drop pink food colouring
  • 1 handful hundreds and thousands

Method

  • Step 1
Large doughnut cake base: Cook your favourite bundt cake. Allow to cool.
  • Step 2
Using an electric mixer, beat together the butter and icing sugar until combined and fluffy. Add milk and beat well.
  • Step 3
Add food colouring and beat well.
  • Step 4
Once the cake has cooled, frost the top of it to look like icing on a doughnut.
  • Step 5
Decorations: Get two small bowls and put 1/4 cup icing sugar in each one.
  • Step 6
To one bowl, add the 2 teaspoons of cocoa powder.
  • Step 7
Add the pink food colouring to the other bowl without the cocoa and stir well.
  • Step 8
Add 1 teaspoon of milk to each bowl and stir well.
  • Step 9
Using tweezers, dip each Cheerio into the icing on one side to coat.
  • Step 10
Place iced Cheerios on a flat surface and repeat until you have as many chocolate and pink iced Cheerios as you want.
  • Step 11
Sprinkle hundreds and thouands on half of the Cheerio doughnuts.
  • Step 12
Assembly: Add some of the pink Cheerio doughnuts to tops of the actual doughnuts (you may need to use a bit of your icing to secure them.)
  • Step 13
Arrange your actual doughnuts in a pile on one side of the large doughnut cake.
  • Step 14
Place your tiny chocolate-iced Cheerio doughnuts around the cake.
Recipe Notes

For the large doughnut cake, you can use your favourite basic white cake recipe, or just use a box of mix, baked in a bundt pan.
