People worldwide have recently celebrated the Queen’s legacy by having afternoon tea or making heirloom meals like Coronation chicken in her honour.
But recently, another of late Her Majesty’s recipes has resurfaced. The recipe for pancakes (or drop scones) was shared on Reddit. The recipe was reportedly sent by the Queen to President Dwight Eisenhower after the President and his wife met the Queen at Balmoral Castle.
Drop scones aren’t actual scones. In Australia, they’re better known as pikelets. The recipe is similar, too, mixing cream, bicarb and other ingredients before dropping them into a hot pan. Still, the term has been used for generations, especially amongst the elderly. They’re also referred to as Scotch pancakes, and they’re delicious with butter and jam.
