Whether you’re out with friends, at home in your pyjamas or doing the school drop-offs, a creamy, hot cappuccino is the perfect pause to your day.
What is a cappuccino?
The cappuccino is a shot of espresso with steamed milk, finished with creamy milk foam. Many of us love cappuccinos because of their taste and ability to make them our own.

Where does a cappuccino come from?
Although the Italians are known for their coffees, the Viennese had their own coffee drink 200 years before the Italians. Known as the ‘Kapuziner’, this drink was a hot, creamy coffee beverage containing whipped cream and spices. Much like the cappuccino, the Kapuziner could be altered to suit various tastes. However, Italy is still responsible for putting coffee on the map.
What is the difference between a latte and a cappuccino?
In the early 1920s, when coffee-machines were created, the cappuccino craze spread across the globe. Since then, many have compared other coffee beverages to the cappuccino. The cappuccino is often compared to the latte: a creamy combination of espresso and light, foamy milk. The biggest difference between the latte and cappuccino is the way it’s presented and created. The cappuccino is layered, whereas the latte is a creamy mix of all elements. Another difference is the latte’s lighter foam, unlike the cappuccino, which has a much heavier, richer foam.
What makes the best cappuccino?
With the creation and craze of coffee-machines, cappuccinos have become the ultimate coffee beverage. Finer coffee grind, creamier foam and creative coffee art are now the criteria for the perfect cappuccino. Elements such as the cup’s shape, the smell of the coffee and its temperature make the perfect cappuccino experience.

Many cafes worldwide create amazing coffee art and have dedicated their lives to perfecting the cappuccino. Newer, more crazy versions of the cappuccino have been introduced, taking the regular cappuccino to another level. With the addition of different flavours and the creation of newer styles, the cappuccino is no longer just a cup of coffee. Traditionally, cappuccinos are meant to be drunk in the morning. However, we can’t confine ourselves to drinking coffee in the morning only. With the help of coffee machines and, now, drive-thrus cafes, the classic capp is just as easy to find as water.
Despite today’s trending versions, many prefer a classic cappuccino – no crazy coffee art, no scientific measurements, just creamy milk and foam and straight espresso, just like the Italians!
