A delicious cake to use as a dessert for a special occasion.
Ingredients
- 2 cup dates finely chopped
- 2 cup walnuts
- 125 g dark chocolate chopped
- 6 egg whites
- 1 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 300 ml cream
Method

Step 1Grease a 26 cm springform tin and line base with baking paper.

Step 2Combine dates, chocolate and walnuts in large bowl.

Step 3In a small mixer bowl, beat eggwhites until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar.

Step 4Fold meringue mixture into chocolate mixture. Spoon into pan.

Step 5Bake at 180C for 35 minutes, covering with foil if necessary to prevent over browning. Cool in tin.

Step 6Spread with whipped cream before serving, and decorate with strawberries.

- 1 24cm springform pan
Recipe Notes
The torte can be made the day before it is needed and stored in an airtight container.
You can also grate the dark chocolate.
