Chocolate biscuits
Fill up your biscuit jar with these easy choccy bickies, so there is always a treat on hand for those choc-craving moments. They are great to have with a cup of tea or coffee – just be sure to hide them in the pantry or the kids will eat them all in one sitting! How to make chocolate biscuits: key tips To make these biscuits, it’s simply a matter of mixing all the ingredients together in a bowl. Roll the dough mixture into balls, arranging them in rows on a lined baking tray. Be sure to space them out, as you’ll need a little room for spreading, then flatten them slightly with the prongs of a fork. These biscuits will ‘crack’ on top as they bake – don’t worry, they’re supposed to, and the cracks add to the appeal. Leave them to cool on the tray for 5-10 minutes after removing them from the oven. They’ll be really soft and will fall apart if you try and move them, so resist the urge to eat one! Then use an egg flip to transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. Key ingredients in this chocolate biscuits recipe This simple recipe makes use of ingredients you probably already have in the pantry and fridge: eggs, brown sugar, vegetable oil, vanilla essence, plain flour, baking powder and cocoa powder. Adding brown sugar, rather than caster sugar, gives these biscuits a more chewy and softer texture, while providing a hint of caramel, thanks to the molasses in this sugar.
