An easy, tasty way to turn cheap sausages into a hearty meal.
Ingredients
- 7 sausage
- 500 ml water
- 1 onion chopped
- 2 carrot roughly chopped
- 2 potato roughly chopped
- 310 g canned corn drained rinsed
- 310 g canned peas drained rinsed
- 1 celery stalk
- 30 g vegetable soup mix
- 400 g canned diced tomato
- 2 tbs barbecue sauce
- 1 tbs soy sauce
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbs gravy powder
Method

Step 1Gently brown sausages in a frypan. Allow to cool a little, then cut into chunks with a sharp knife.

Step 2In a slow cooker or pot, add carrots, potatoes, corn, peas, tomatoes, celery, and soup mix.

Step 3Stir in sausages.

Step 4In a small dish, combine the sauces then add to the pot.

Step 5Add just enough water to cover and mix thoroughly.

Step 6Cook in slow cooker on auto or low for 6-8 hours, or simmer on stove top until cooked through, adding extra water if required.

Step 7Thicken to taste with gravy mix before serving.

Step 8Serve on toasted half rolls or chunky toast.
Recipe Notes
I did not season this stew last time I made it, as I found the ingredients supply enough as is. I prefer to use spring vegetable soup mix.
