Ingredients

  • 250 g ham (deli) diced
  • 3 spring onions diced
  • 420 g canned diced tomato
  • 500 g spirals pasta shapes
  • 500 g pasta sauce
  • 2 cups cheese grated
  • 1/2 tsp fresh basil finely chopped
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper optional

Method

  • Step 1
    Cook pasta until al dente.
  • Step 2
    Place in greased 30 cm x 24 cm x 6 cm dish or bain-marie pan, with ham, spring onions, diced tomatoes, half the pasta sauce and 1 cup grated cheese. Season with salt and pepper, if using.
  • Step 3
    Mix until combined.
  • Step 4
    Pour remaining pasta sauce over pasta, then sprinkle with remaining cup of grated cheese.
  • Step 5
    Bake at 180C for approximately 30 minutes until cheese is melted and browned.
Recipe Notes

This dish can be made ahead of time, covered with foil and refrigerated until required.

Allow an extra 30 minutes cooking time in this case, removing foil only for last 10 minutes.

Freezes well. Use tasty or mozzarella cheese.
