Simple and delicious. An excellent addition to most meat dishes, goes marvellous with hamburgers and is great with cheese and biscuits.
Ingredients
- 4 brown onions medium thinly sliced
- 4 tbs balsamic vinegar
- 4 tbs brown sugar
- 1 garlic clove finely chopped optional
- 1 tbs butter
Method

Step 1In a frying pan, cook onions in butter over medium-high heat, stirring constantly.

Step 2Add vinegar and honey, or sugar.

Step 3Reduce heat to low and simmer gently until onions are cooked down to a jam-like consistency.
Recipe Notes
Honey can substitute sugar.
This keeps for up to 3 weeks in the fridge.
