Ingredients

  • 4 brown onions medium thinly sliced
  • 4 tbs balsamic vinegar
  • 4 tbs brown sugar
  • 1 garlic clove finely chopped optional
  • 1 tbs butter

Method

  • Step 1
    In a frying pan, cook onions in butter over medium-high heat, stirring constantly.

  • Step 2
    Add vinegar and honey, or sugar.
  • Step 3
    Reduce heat to low and simmer gently until onions are cooked down to a jam-like consistency.
Recipe Notes

Honey can substitute sugar.

This keeps for up to 3 weeks in the fridge.
