Orange bliss with orange peel on toast.
Ingredients
- 6 orange
- 2 orange rind thinly sliced
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp lemon juice
Method

Step 1Chop the orange peel and extract the juice from the oranges.

Step 2Boil the juice and peels together in a heavy base saucepan.

Step 3Add sugar and lemon juice, and allow to boil.

Step 4Fold in all the pits and the pulp of oranges in a muslin cloth and tie tightly.

Step 5Immerse the muslin bag into the orange syrup.

Step 6Cook for about 30 minutes at medium heat.

Step 7Remove the muslin bag, let it cool. Squeeze the juice out of the muslin cloth and add it to the remaining juice in the pan.

Step 8Pour the cooled orange syrup into a sterile jar and refrigerate overnight.

Step 9Boil the mixture again until it forms into a thin gel-like consistency.

Step 10Pour back into a sterile jar and refrigerate.
Equipment
- 1 muslin
- 1 glass jar with lid
Recipe Notes
To sterilise the jar, wash it in the dish washer. Store for about 2 weeks in a refrigerator.
