Ingredients

  • 1 kg beef round steak, pounded flat
  • 2 garlic clove crushed
  • 1 tbs parmesan cheese fresh grated
  • 2 egg hard-boiled
  • 1 tbs fresh flat-leaf parsley chopped
  • 5 slices prosciutto roughly chopped
  • 2 tbs olive oil
  • 400 g pasta *to serve

Sauce

  • 1 onion thinly sliced
  • 440 g canned chopped tomato
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 cup red wine optional

Method

  • Step 1
    Lay out steak, cover with mixture of next 6 ingredients.
  • Step 2
    Roll steak and secure firmly.
  • Step 3
    Heat oil in pan, add rolled steak and slowly brown on all sides.
  • Step 4
    Add onion, tomatoes, salt and pepper, bay leaf and red wine.
  • Step 5
    Cover and simmer for about half an hour or until steak is tender.
  • Step 6
    Slice and serve with pasta of choice.
Recipe Notes

Blade steak can be used.
