Everyone who has tasted this has raved about it! This recipe is from my friend's Jewish grandmother Ruth - and she knows her meatballs!
Ingredients
- 700 g beef mince
- 1 tbs garlic flakes
- 1 tbs onion flakes
- 1 tsp dried marjoram
- 1 tsp thyme
- 275 g cranberry sauce
- 410 g canned chopped tomato
- 2 tbs tomato sauce
- 4 tbs tomato paste
- 1 pinch pepper *to taste
Method
-
Step 1Mix the garlic and onion flakes into the meat, and add the herbs. Mix well.
-
Step 2Make the meatballs (not too large).
-
Step 3Put the tomato paste, tomato sauce, canned tomatoes and cranberry sauce into a large pot.
-
Step 4Add pepper to taste, mix together well.
-
Step 5Bring the sauce to a low boil and then put in the meatballs to cook, making sure the meatballs are covered by the sauce.
-
Step 6Cook for an hour on medium/low heat.
Recipe Notes
You might need to add a little water if the sauce is very thick. Turkey mince works very well for this recipe as well.
