Best ever tasting torte, like a chocolate cake but way more delicious. It looks so yummy when it is ready and tastes sensational.
Ingredients
- 4 egg separated
- 1/2 cup caster sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
- 1 tbs brandy
- 280 g chestnut puree

- 2 cup cream
- 150 g dark chocolate
Method
-
Step 1Beat eggs yolks, sugar and vanilla together until thick and creamy.
-
Step 2Add brandy and ½ cup of chestnut spread.
-
Step 3Lightly fold in sifted flour and mix thoroughly.
-
Step 4Beat egg whites until soft peaks form and gently fold into cake mixture.
-
Step 5Grease 2 x 20 cm round sandwich tins and line bases with greased greaseproof paper.
-
Step 6Spread cake evenly into prepared tins and bake at 180C for 20-25 minutes or until cooked. Turn out of tins and allow to cool.
-
Step 7Melt 90 g chocolate in top of double saucepan over simmering water.
-
Step 8Cool slightly and spread evenly on flat side of each half of cake.
-
Step 9Whip 1 cup cream and fold in remaining chestnut spread. Place one half of cake on to serving plate chocolate-side up and spread chestnut filling evenly over cake.
-
Step 10Top with the other half of cake, chocolate side down. Spread extra whipped cream over top and sides of cake and decorate top with extra grated chocolate. Refrigerate several hours before cutting.
