Ingredients

  • 600 g diced lamb
  • 2 tbs Greek yoghurt
  • 1 onion finely chopped small
  • 1 garlic clove crushed
  • 1/4 tsp chilli powder *optional
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 olive oil spray
  • 1 tbs mint *to decorate

Tsire powder

  • 1/2 cup peanuts salted
  • 1 tsp chilli powder *optional
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

Method

  • Step 1
Process lamb pieces, yoghurt, onion, garlic, chilli powder and a little salt and pepper in a food processor until smooth.
  • Step 2
Divide mixture into 12 portions and, with wet hands, form into sausage shapes.
  • Step 3
Push a pre-soaked skewer into each kofta and press the meat onto the stick. Dip each kofta into the beaten egg, then roll in the Tsire powder.
  • Step 4
Spray lightly with olive oil spray, then grill or barbeque, turning occasionally, for about 10 minutes or until cooked.
  • Step 5
    Serve garnished with mint leaves.
  • Step 6
Tsire powder: Grind peanuts to a coarse powder in electric grinder or pestle and mortar, then add remaining ingredients.

Equipment

  • 1 bamboo skewers
  • 1 food processor
Recipe Notes
As an alternative to using bamboo skewers, try moulding the mince mixture into balls or patties.
