Spicy, minced lamb rolled in a delicious mixture of ground peanuts and mixed spice, then grilled or barbecued to perfection.
Ingredients
- 600 g diced lamb
- 2 tbs Greek yoghurt
- 1 onion finely chopped small
- 1 garlic clove crushed
- 1/4 tsp chilli powder *optional
- 1 egg beaten
- 1 olive oil spray
- 1 tbs mint *to decorate
Tsire powder
- 1/2 cup peanuts salted
- 1 tsp chilli powder *optional
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
Method

Step 1Process lamb pieces, yoghurt, onion, garlic, chilli powder and a little salt and pepper in a food processor until smooth.

Step 2Divide mixture into 12 portions and, with wet hands, form into sausage shapes.

Step 3Push a pre-soaked skewer into each kofta and press the meat onto the stick. Dip each kofta into the beaten egg, then roll in the Tsire powder.

Step 4Spray lightly with olive oil spray, then grill or barbeque, turning occasionally, for about 10 minutes or until cooked.

Step 5Serve garnished with mint leaves.

Step 6Tsire powder: Grind peanuts to a coarse powder in electric grinder or pestle and mortar, then add remaining ingredients.

Recipe Notes
As an alternative to using bamboo skewers, try moulding the mince mixture into balls or patties.
