Great rice to serve with Indian food.
Ingredients
- 2 tbs vegetable oil
- 1 onion diced
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 3 cup basmati rice
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 sprig thyme
- 4 1/2 cup water
Method

Step 1Heat the oil over medium heat in a large, heavy-based saucepan. Fry onion until soft, then add the turmeric and mix well.

Step 2Add the rice and stir to coat. Add the herbs and water. Season to taste.

Step 3Transfer the mixture to a baking dish with a fitted lid.

Step 4Cover and bake at 180C for 30 minutes.
