This recipe gives you a good reason to get out the old pressure cooker again. It is simple and delicious and will hit the spot when you serve it up.

Ingredients

  • 900 g chuck beef steak, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • 1/2 cup beef stock (liquid)
  • 2 carrot cut into slices
  • 3 bacon rashers chopped
  • 1/2 tsp thyme
  • 225 g button mushrooms
  • 2 tbs plain flour
  • 2 garlic clove crushed

Method

  • Step 1
    Fry the bacon in the pressure cooker for 5 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Add the onion and garlic and cook for 2 minutes.

  • Step 3
    Add the chuck steak and brown for 5 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Add the flour and mix it in well.
  • Step 5
    Add the wine, beef stock, thyme, salt and pepper and stir.
  • Step 6
    Close the lid and, once it has reached pressure, cook for 20 minutes.
  • Step 7
    Carefully release the pressure and open the lid.
  • Step 8
    Add the carrots and mushrooms and stir.
  • Step 9
    Close the lid and, once it has reached pressure, cook for 5 minutes.
