A full flavoured beef stroganoff.
Ingredients
- 2 tbs oil
- 1 onion chopped large
- 300 g mushrooms sliced
- 350 g beef steak, cut into strips
- 3 tbs plain flour
- 1 1/3 cups reduced-salt chicken stock (liquid)
- 3 tbs Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp sweet paprika
- 3 tbs tomato puree
- 1 tbs honey
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper *to taste
- 3 tbs sour cream
Method

Step 1Place onions and mushrooms in a frying pan with oil and stirfry until soft. Remove from pan.

Step 2Coat meat with flour.

Step 3Brown beef in batches in same pan.

Step 4Return beef, mushrooms and onions to pan.

Step 5Add stock, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, tomato puree, honey, salt and pepper to frying pan and stir. Turn heat down and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Step 6Add sour cream and stir through, simmer for another 2 minutes.

Step 7Serve with mashed potato or mashed sweet potato and steamed green beans.
