I had one son who didn't like tomatoes, he was happy for me to put some cooked meatballs aside and he would have them on pasta with cheese sprinkled on top. - delightful_de

Ingredients

  • 500 g beef mince
  • 850 g canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 onions
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese grated
  • 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1 seasoning
  • 2 tbs sugar
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 bay leaf large
  • 1 tbs tomato paste

Method

  • Step 1
    Mix meat, cheese, 1 finely chopped onion and breadcrumbs together.
  • Step 2
    Roll into 40 walnut-sized meatballs.
  • Step 3
    Put paper towel on turntable of microwave and put meatballs on outer edge of plate in circle.
  • Step 4
    Cook for approximately 6 minutes, on high.
  • Step 5
    In a large saucepan fry chopped onion with garlic until onion starts to cook.
  • Step 6
    Add remaining ingredients.
  • Step 7
    Bring to the boil, stir, then simmer with cooked meatballs for about 25 minutes.
  • Step 8
    Remove bay leaf before serving and sprinkle with extra grated cheese or parmesan to serve.
