Ingredients

  • 7 cup icing sugar sifted
  • 1 1/2 tbs glycerine
  • 1/2 cup glucose syrup
  • 1 tbs gelatine powder
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

Method

  • Step 1
    Sift the icing sugar into a large non-metal bowl and then make a well in the centre.
  • Step 2
    In a small saucepan, add water and gelatine. Over a low heat, dissolve the gelatine. Do not let it boil.

  • Step 3
    Remove saucepan from the heat and add the glycerine and glucose syrup. Stir until combined well, then add vanilla essence.
  • Step 4
    Pour the gelatine mixture into the well in the icing sugar.
  • Step 5
    Mix until all of the icing sugar is combined with the mixture. Knead the icing until it is well combined and smooth.

Recipe Notes

Add extra sifted icing sugar in small amounts if the mixture becomes sticky while kneading. Wrap in 2-3 layers of glad wrap for 6-8 hours before using for best results.
