Ingredients

  • 500 g tofu
  • 1 tbs olive oil
  • 1 tbs kecap manis

Method

  • Step 1
    Heat a griddle pan until very hot.
  • Step 2
    Slice the tofu into steaks about 1½-2 cm thick.
  • Step 3
    Grease pan with olive oil.
  • Step 4
    Place tofu in the pan and drizzle kecap manis over the top.
  • Step 5
    Turn the tofu over when the bottom side is golden and crisp.
  • Step 6
    Remove tofu from pan when the other side is browned and crisp.
  • Step 7
    Serve with a salad and crusty bread.
Recipe Notes
Kecap manis is a thick, sweet, soy sauce. It will almost burn when the tofu is cooked but gives it a nice flavour.
