The most delicious dumplings with a very rich and generous sauce. My favourite dessert!
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups self-raising flour sifted
- 1 pinch salt
- 30g butter
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 1/3 cup milk
Caramel sauce
- 30g butter
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar firmly packed
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 1/2 cups water
Method

Step 1Place flour and salt into bowl, rub in butter and add sugar.

Step 2Add combined milk and vanilla, mix well.

Step 3Caramel sauce: Combine all sauce ingredients in large saucepan and stir constantly until boiling. Reduce heat.

Step 4Drop tablespoons of dumpling dough into simmering sauce.

Step 5Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.

Recipe Notes
The dumplings can be served with whipped cream or ice cream, but I think they taste great on their own!
