Ingredients

  • 75 g soft butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 cup self-raising flour
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 3 apple peeled quartered thinly sliced
  • 25 g butter melted to coat
  • 1 tbs sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Method

  • Step 1
    Grease a 23 cm round cake tin and line base with paper.
  • Step 2
    In a small mixer bowl, beat brown sugar, butter, egg and vanilla until light and fluffy.
  • Step 3
    Stir in sifted flour and milk, and mix well.
  • Step 4
    Pour mixture into prepared pan.
  • Step 5
    Arrange apple slices over cake mixture.
  • Step 6
    Bake at 180C for 25-30 minutes.
  • Step 7
    Remove from oven and stand cake on wire rack for 5 minutes.
  • Step 8
    Brush top with extra melted butter and sprinkle with combined sugar and cinnamon.
