A variant on an old family favourite that won't break the budget.
Ingredients
- 500g lean beef mince
- 1 cup bacon rashers diced fat trimmed
- 1 egg
- 1 carrot grated small
- 1 onion grated medium
- 1 garlic clove crushed
- 2/3 cup dried breadcrumbs
- 2 tbs soy sauce
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbs tomato sauce
- 1 pinch chilli powder to taste
- 1 tsp coriander finely chopped
Method

Step 1Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Step 2Form into rissole shapes.

Step 3Pan fry or barbeque, or alternatively seal in pan and bake at 180C for approximately 15 minutes. Do not allow rissoles to dry out.

Step 4Serve with mashed or jacket potatoes and green beans.

Recipe Notes
Tomato chutney can substitute tomato sauce.
Use clove garlic or sprinkle of garlic salt.
This can form a base for many variations e.g. try using an old family sauce recipe instead of soy and Worcestershire. With a little imagination you could create a family recipe that could last for generations.
A couple of hours is preferable for refrigerating the mixture as it allows the flavours to fully unite.
