A white sauce for all occasions.
Ingredients
- 2 tbs butter
- 3 tbs plain flour
- 1 L milk
- 1 pinch nutmeg
Method

Step 1Melt butter in saucepan.

Step 2Slowly sprinkle flour into the butter stirring all the time.

Step 3Cook for 5 minutes, do not let brown.

Step 4Meanwhile, bring milk to the boil.

Step 5Once milk has boiled take both saucepans off the heat, add all the milk at once to flour mixture and beat vigorously with a whisk until all lumps have been removed.

Step 6Return saucepan to heat to keep warm and add salt, pepper and nutmeg.
Recipe Notes
Cheese and fresh herbs can be added. This makes around 3 layers in a lasagna.
