Ingredients

  • 1 kg potatoes boiled sliced
  • 6 bacon rashers chopped
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 90 g butter melted
  • 3 tbs plain flour
  • 2 cups cheese grated
  • 2 1/4 cups milk warmed
  • 1/4 cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper
  • 1 tbs butter *extra

Method

  • Step 1
    Place potatoes in a casserole dish.
  • Step 2
    Saute onion and bacon in melted butter.

    Stir in flour and cook for several minutes.
  • Step 4
    Gradually stir in the milk and bring to the boil.
  • Step 5
    Add cheese, salt and pepper.
  • Step 6
    Stir until cheese melts and pour over the potatoes.
  • Step 7
    Sprinkle with breadcrumbs and dot with extra butter.
  • Step 8
    Bake at 180C for about 30 minutes.
