English-style flapjacks, not American pancake-style. Crunchy on the outside and sticky on the inside, these are really quick and easy to make and relatively healthy too.
Ingredients
- 235 g margarine
- 175 g brown sugar
- 3 tbs honey
- 40 g flaked almonds roughly chopped
- 500 g rolled oats
Method
-
Step 1Melt the margarine, sugar and honey together in a saucepan.
-
Step 2Add the chopped or flaked nuts and then stir in the oats until the ingredients are thoroughly mixed together.
-
Step 3Place in a Swiss roll tin lined with baking paper or greased lightly with margarine.
-
Step 4Bake at 190C for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
-
Step 5Remove from oven and cut into small pieces straight away and before cooling. Use a pizza cutter for best results.
Equipment
- 1 23cm x 38cm Swiss roll pan
Recipe Notes
Any type of nuts can be substituted, and you can also use an extra 50 g of sugar instead of the honey.
Sugar and honey can be adjusted to taste, depending on your sweet tooth.
