Cheesy baked pasta.
Ingredients
- 300g spirals pasta shapes
- 40g butter
- 1 onion chopped
- 2 tbs plain flour
- 1 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tsp vegetable stock powder
- 1 pinch pepper *to taste
- 2 cup cheddar cheese coarsely grated
- 425g canned tuna flaked
- 200g mushrooms sliced
- 1/4 cup dried breadcrumbs
Method

Step 1Preheat oven to 180C.

Step 2Boil pasta according to packet directions.

Step 3While pasta is cooking, melt butter in a medium saucepan and sauté onion for several minutes until soft.

Step 4Stir in flour and cook, stirring, for one minute.

Step 5Remove from heat and gradually stir in milk.

Step 6Heat until mixture simmers and thickens. Remove from heat, stir in stock powder and pepper and then 1½ cups of cheese.

Step 7Combine cheese sauce, tuna, drained pasta and mushrooms and place in a large casserole dish.

Step 8Sprinkle with breadcrumbs and remaining ½ cup cheese.

Step 9Bake for 25-30 minutes or until browned on top.
Recipe Notes
I use tuna in oil for this as I think it enhances the flavour but it should work with any type.
