Ingredients

  • 500 g beef mince
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 onion diced
  • 2 tsp garlic minced
  • 600 ml bolognese pasta sauce
  • 425 g Italian-style canned diced tomato
  • 1 tbs Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil leaves
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 2 sheets puff pastry
  • 1 tomato sliced
  • 1 tbs parmesan cheese
  • 100 g cheddar cheese
  • 500 g spaghetti cooked cooled

Method

  • Step 1
In a sauce pan heat olive oil and brown onion, garlic and mince.
  • Step 2
Once onions are cooked and mince is brown add Worcestershire sauce, basil and oregano.
  • Step 3
Add in tin of tomatoes and spaghetti sauce and leave to simmer so that the sauce thickens.
  • Step 4
Whilst sauce thickens, lightly spray dish with oil and line pie dish with puff pastry.
  • Step 5
Allow meat sauce to cool and combine in a big bowl with cooled spaghetti. Mix well.
  • Step 6
Add mixture to pie dish then sprinkle with cheddar cheese.
  • Step 7
Place sliced tomatoes on top and sprinkle with parmesan cheese and breadcrumbs.
  • Step 8
Any left over pastry can be cut into strips and placed on top of pie to create a lattice cover.
  • Step 9
Place in preheated 180C oven for 20 minutes or until pastry looks golden and cheese is golden brown.
Recipe Notes
This is a really simple meal. It can be served with a nice crisp salad during the summer months - or with crusty bread and a glass of good red in the winter months. For the Mums out there, when I cook this for my sisters who aren't big vegetable fans I usually hide some diced carrot, zucchini or eggplant in the sauce - they can never tell.
