I have been making this chocolate cake for 25 years. My kids always want this cake as their birthday cake. It's very easy and the recipe has never failed me.
Ingredients
- 1 cup self-raising flour sifted
- 3 tbs cocoa powder heaped sifted
- 1 cup caster sugar
- 3 tbs butter large
- 1/3 cup milk
- 2 eggs
Method

Step 1Place all ingredients in a mixer bowl and mix on medium speed for approximately 3-4 minutes.

Step 2Pour mixture into a greased and floured cake tin.

Step 3Bake at 180C for approximately 40-45 minutes.
Recipe Notes
I have made this mixture into chocolate patty cakes and it was successful.
I have also doubled the recipe at times and that was successful, too.
The cooking time will depend on the tin used. I usually bake this in a square tin and it takes approximately 40 minutes.
