A tasty dessert.
Ingredients
- 100 g butter
- 1 cup caster sugar
- 2 egg
- 1 tbs plain flour
- 100 g almond meal
- 1 tbs kirsch
- 2 apple medium
- 1 lemon
- 1 tbs caster sugar
Short crust pastry
- 1 1/2 cup plain flour
- 1 cup icing sugar
- 100 g butter
- 1 tbs cold water
- 1 tbs fresh lemon juice
Glaze
- 2 tbs apricot jam
- 2 tsp kirsch
Method
-
Step 1Place all pastry ingredients into a food processor and mix until dough is formed.
-
Step 2Line a 22 cm flan tin with the prepared pastry.
-
Step 3Preheat oven to 200C and place a flat baking tray in oven to heat (this will help cook the under crust of the tart).
-
Step 4Cream butter and 1 cup caster sugar in a bowl until light and fluffy.
-
Step 5Add eggs one at a time mixing together thoroughly.
-
Step 6Beat in the plain flour and almond meal, and mix thoroughly.
-
Step 7Gradually add the kirsch whilst mixing.
-
Step 8Pour mixture into prepared pastry case.
-
Step 9Peel and core the apples, then squeeze a little lemon juice over the apples to stop them going brown.
-
Step 10Arrange apples in a pattern on top of the flan dish.
-
Step 11Sprinkle apples evenly with a tablespoon of caster sugar.
-
Step 12Bake tart on the heated tray for 45-50 minutes or until filling is set and pastry is golden.
-
Step 13Remove the tart from oven and allow to cool slightly.
-
Step 14Heat apricot jam and kirsch and brush over tart to form a glaze.
Equipment
- 1 fluted tart tins
- 1 baking tray
- 1 food processor
Recipe Notes
I used a 22cm flan tin but you can use a fluted tart tin or pie dish.
Store bought pastry can also be used.
Tart is best served warm with cream and/or icecream.
