Ingredients

  • 2 cup plain flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 3/4 cup milk gently warmed

Method

  • Step 1
    Stir flour and baking powder into a bowl.
  • Step 2
    Add salt and oil to lukewarm milk.
  • Step 3
    Gradually add the milk mixture to the flour mixture and work into a dough.
  • Step 4
    Knead for 2 minutes. Rest for 15 minutes
  • Step 5
    Divide into 8 equal sized balls, then rest again for 20 minutes.
  • Step 6
    Roll out a ball and transfer to a dry, hot pan.
  • Step 7
    Turn after 15 seconds,and cook for another 15 seconds.
  • Step 8
    Roll out the next tortilla while one is cooking.
Recipe Notes
You can substitute 1 cup of flour for wholewheat flour. The dough won't rise, but it needs to rest, otherwise it will be really tough to roll out.
